So the experiment with "Easy Paint Tool SAI" is at an end. the workflow other than botching the vector usage with just tablet, seems to be very similar to working with Photoshop, by way of Flash, in that layers are ink on top shadows and highlights in the middle and flat colors at the bottom. this is my first attempt using, "Easy Paint Tool SAI". If anyone has any tips, tricks or links for video tutorials please pass then along, This will eventually be colored. Comparing this to inking in Flash, this has more versatility and depth, but Flash is faster, and resolution independent. Inking in Sai, seemed to take as long as it took as it would using steel pens and Higgins Black ink. The original pencils can be seen in my sketch Gallery Uploaded on thsi same date. Bandolero by Scott Ruggels

This was a commission from a co-worker who wanted a Bandolero, a member of Zapata's revolutionaries from he turn of the century, defiant to the last at a firing squad, but with a skull for a head. I don't understand the symbology but I did as requested, and I thought it worked out. This was intended as a tatoo. I expect I will do a revision. No problem though, glad for the business. Asheru 63 Flash by Scott Ruggels

Spent this weekend in a working vacation, learning Flash. In a break from the tutorials, I colored a sketch in Flash and found the program to have some pretty good inking tools. This digital ink and coloring took about 4 hours. This is NOT suitable for animation, but give me an idea of hwo to Draw in it. Animation and simple characters come later, but I feel comfortable with the tools, now.

Tactical Sniper Asheru by Scott Ruggels

Here is some line art, detailing the costume that Asheru is wearing in the previous picture. I just picked the year 2044 because it was graphically interesting, but other than her rifle, all of her gear is based on current S.W.A.T. Tactical gear, and she is outfitted as a tactical sniper. The rifle is just based on some ballistic theories, and was done as an all meta/synthetic rifles with a telescoping bolt and free floating barrel (and a Burris Bipod). This originally was supposed to be an April Fool's joke, but I was late. Experimentation into seeing what other genres I could picture Asheru in, as well as playing with cover designs.
